Dealing with our thoughts, as I continue to prepare for a new series (Morph), I find myself in a real life “lab session”. Perhaps it can be of some encouragement to those who think that Pastors are above all forms of testing or difficulty. Today, I like so many, have a choice to make. I can either let my thoughts determine my day, or I can take my thoughts captive and then I can determine my day.

Life is filled with choices, and none more basic than choosing our thoughts. God’s word is filled with instructions and encouragement regarding our thought life. May I encourage you, as I encourage myself to rule your thought life, don’t let your thoughts rule you.

Reading in John 18, Jesus makes a statement that He came to earth to “testify of the truth”. Then He said “and those that seek the truth understand”. Interesting statement of His purpose, perhaps the question today is; Are you a seeker of the Truth? Have you found it? John 17:17 states that “His Word is Truth”. Are you seeking His Word? Find His Word and you will find Truth. Find Him and you will find Truth. John 1 states that Jesus and The Word are one. Be a seeker today, find the Truth and “get it”. Truth for any and every situation and person is available to us today. God’s very nature is that He is a revealing God. Continue the pursuit.

Life is a gift. Every breath is a gift. Our mind is a gift. Our physical strength is a gift. Everything we are is a gift from God. How do we treat that gift? What is our attitude about “life”? Do we value and appreciate this gift? Do we honor the gift giver by how we “use” this gift? Today may we show love, appreciation and honor as we value the gift of life in all of our thoughts, actions and attitudes. Enjoy this wonderful gift and be a blessing to others by sharing your gift.

Sitting in KC overlooking the Plaza area from the 12th floor of the Marriott. It is a wonderful view. Another lesson in perspective, what are we focused on? What is the view or the vantage point? What if we really believed God’s word and viewed it from where we have a legal right to view it. “Seated with Him in heavenly places”. Quite a different view. Even the biggest problems look miniscule. How good and how great is our God? As good as it gets for sure. Easy to love, easy to be with. Why don’t you spend some time with Him today. It will change your viewpoint and your perspective on life. God Is Awesome! 

God is amazing, not a new thought but one we should be continually aware of. Easter was two days ago, and I am still amazed at what He did through the Life Church family. A team that worked so well together to provide a celebration of life at the Bartlesville Community Center, over 800 in attendance and over 100 that made commitments of their lives to Christ. God is so good!

There was a lot of planning and hard work that went into this day, but there was an ease to it as well. I believe that “flowing in His Grace” is one of the most amazing blessings that we as believers have available to us. Loving God with all our heart, soul, mind and strength can mean working hard, but it seams to energize rather than diminish. God Is Amazing!
